This is the only example that we've ever seen of an original Steinberger factory-built bass with a maple colored fingerboard. We "assume" that this was an experimental build to evaluate the public response to a maple fretboard on a Steinberger bass. If you want the rarest Steinberger bass added to your collection, this would be the one to own. This beauty was just restored and set-up by Jeff Babicz, who was the head of production at the Steinberger Sound factory in Newburgh, NY. Jeff dressed and mirror polished the frets, disassembled, cleaned and lubricated the bridge, and serviced the electronics (see attached invoice). Jeff's work is legendary, and his abilities in Steinberger restoration are stunning. This bass in now in near-mint condition. Since all of this restoration work has been completed, this incredible bass should need no any further attention for the next 25 years.
If you've never played a properly restored and set-up Steinberger bass, it will be a revelation. The tone, the accuracy, and the sustain are legendary for a reason.

A perfect playing bass that's just been serviced by the world's top Steinberger tech, it now plays and performs as well as (or probably better than) the day that it first left the factory. Its original Steinberger logo black.
