A solid 18k yellow gold Vacheron & Constantin Ultra-thin Caliber 1003 from the 1950s in the rare ref. 7590 - most of these caliber 1003s were round cased Serial number is 502xxx indicating early to mid 1950s which make this piece one of the first productions of cal. I originally thought this model was from the 1970s due to the rounded shape of the tank; however, the original dial with the "&" used and the serial number along with no "1003/1" caliber reference strongly supports the 1950s. This watch is in exceptionally great condition, showing only slight wear.

This Vacheron is completely original including the gold dial. The gold dial has slight patina that is much more evident in photos; but not so much in person - we tried to capture the in person look in some of the photos with natural light. The strap is the highest-end strap available - even better than that of a V&C replacement.

This piece measures 31mm long by 24.5mm wide - a decent size for the period. This model has its original 18k gold hands and 18k gold applied stick indices. This watch was recently overhauled and is running well. The caliber 1003 was originally conceived by JLC as Cal 803 on request from Vacheron and AP. No one else, not even Jaeger-LeCoultre has used this movement. VC named it Cal 1003 and AP Cal 2003. First introduced by VC in 1955, and still the thinnest movement produced to this date at 1.64 mm high and diam 20.80 mm. The 1003 is chronometer quality and it has no shock proofing, because it's so light. It's really one of a hand full of horological accomplishments of all time.
Most people don;t realize that a true ultra-thin such as this, is more difficult, expensive and exclusive that most other highly complicated watches. Vacheron models containing the cal. Going vintage is a real bargain. The item "VACHERON & CONSTANTIN ULTRA THIN VINTAGE 1950S REF.
