ULTRA RARE! Vintage Freeman McFarlin Mom & Baby Mermaid Wall Plaque Hanging
VM549 - This is a rare Freeman McFarlin mermaid set in pink. The most rare in this set are the two babies. You see the other 3 alot but never see these two as they were the first ones made and then Anthony Freeman changed over to the other 3 mermaids and those were made in a much larger quantity. The last picture I show my set of all pink tailed Freeman babies with mom - I have a huge wall above my tub in the master bedroom and having a set with a lot of babies really expands the display (last picture is for reference only, first picture is what's for sale in this listing).
As with all mermaids designed by Anthony Freeman, the top half is matte and tailfin is gloss. The way Anthony made these mermaids was so unique. The pottery used was fleshtone and the back was hollow with a bar at the top - the bar has a hole in it so you put wire or string in the hole to make a hanger for attachment to the wall. The Freeman-McFarlin mermaids never had cheek blush or lipstick.
These two babies in this listing were only made in pink - they were not made with green tailfins as the others were. The set is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
