HAS SOME RUST AND SCRATCHES ON CASE AND SLIGHT RUST ON REAR PANEL TYPICAL OF AGE. SILVER FACE IS BEAUTIFUL WITH ONLY A COUPLE VERY TINY SCRATCHES. POWER CORD SOULD BE REPLACED AS IT WAS SPLICED BY PREVIOUS OWNER. POWER LIGHT DOES NOT WORK. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CANDIDATE FOR FULL RESTORATION BUT WORKS AND SOUNDS GREAT AS IS. COPIED AND PASTED ONLINE INFO BELOW. Heavier than a model KA-9100, much more beautiful, exclusive and rare. In other words, THIS IS IT! Part of their later Supreme series, the model 600 was mainly an export item. Kenwood didn't advertise much for the originals and not at all for the integrated models: model 600, model 650 and model 500, three versions which share the same January 1976 (export) service manual. Being later components, none of these three saw pre-production runs with the Supreme tag engraved on the front plates - but they are Supremes nevertheless: same series, same engineering, same parts, same design. On a lucky day, the model 600 can be found under the model 650 name: same amplifier but graced with a beautiful "bronze" anodization: an extra-rare version findable only if one is graced with miraculous providence on a very lucky day. Not only does it have a great power amp, it also has MANY features hardly seen on pre-amps back in its day. While some of these features are not so useful today with today's electronic devices, I have used it in my very high end home theater/audio system for its preamp features. One of its very nice preamp features is the ability to support two different tape devices. It allows you to copy from Tape A-B and from B-A, and also be able to switch to the source when it is not in the tape copy mode. Back in the day when recording to tape was the standard, switching back & forth from source to tape is absolutely necessary to compare the original to the recording - and of course, you had to have a 3 headed tape deck that would allow you to hear what it is recording as well. It also has two phono inputs, with adjustable impedance, two aux (high level) inputs, and a tuner input. So, with the dual tape inputs and outputs, it has formidable inputs for the equipment of that day. I also use one of the Aux inputs for the audio from my computer. The Model 600 also has Pre-out and Pre-in, and this is how it is connected to my modern day preamp (Integra DHC 80.2). Name : same amplifier but graced with a beautiful. Can only specify a couple of quality aspects of this amp : DACT volume control, way ahead of it's time technology wise; all of the switches and control knobs are solid metal with no plastic whatsoever.
